Who We Are
Residentialist Housecall Medical Group was founded in 2015 as a joint venture with Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. RHMG started with the vision of transforming in-home clinical care by improving patient access, quality of life, and clinical outcomes. From our founding, we have been committed to bringing care to where it is needed most.
We recognized that special core competencies were essential to meet patient needs, and developed the concept of the “residentialist”. This is a new type of in-home clinician, who understands the unique problems and needs of homebound and access-challenged patients.
To date, we have a team of specially-trained residentialist physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who have performed over 15,000 in-home visits annually. They are supported by our 24/7 call center, which provides in-home medical care to patients who have difficulty getting to the doctor’s office.
Our mission is to enhance both clinical care and quality of life. We are advocates for our patients, trying to help them get the services and resources that they need.
About Our Founder
Norman E. Vinn, D.O., is a board-certified family practitioner and founder and Medical Director of Housecall Doctors Medical Group. Dr. Vinn is considered a leader in Residentialist care, which focuses on the care of homebound or access-challenged patients. Dr. Vinn embraces the tradition of the family doctor making housecalls, enhancing those services with interprofessional team care.
“Caring for those who are confined to their homes due to age, illness or other factors is a complex process. Besides clinical issues, psychosocial, nutritional and safety issues factor into patient care options,” says Dr. Vinn. “Despite these challenges, there is nothing more rewarding than helping a patient receive the best possible quality of health care at a time when they are most in need of it.”
Education
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Vinn earned his osteopathic medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his postdoctoral medical training at what is now Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI. He later attended the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, where he obtained a master of business administration degree. He is board-certified in Family Practice.
Affiliations
A longtime member of the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Association, Dr. Vinn has served as the 2013 -14 president of the AOA, and in many other capacities including chair of the Department of Research, Quality and Public Health; Chair of the Department of Educational Affairs; and chair of the Strategic Planning Committee.
Awards
In 2011, Dr. Vinn received the Orange County Senior Care Humanitarian Award. He also was recognized for his work in fulfilling the health care needs of senior citizens at the 2008 South County Senior Services’ Captain’s Ball Gala.
